For many years, Guns N’ Roses have been attracting attention and this week is no different with rumors of an Australian tour. Thanks to a recent billboard that was seen in Melbourne just recently, the various social media platforms have been going crazy with the news that the band could be touring Australia and that an announcement could even be made on August 17.
The billboard in question was seen at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and clearly advertised a Guns N’ Roses show at the same location on February 14. Of course, this news is further speculation of just where the ‘Not In This Lifetime’ is going to end up. Towards the end of July, production manager for the tour, Dale ‘Opie’ Skjerseth, said that there was no end date in mind and that there were shows booked ‘far into next year’. Does this new clue tell us where they will be in February/March and will it also give us a guide to the lead up to those dates?
Skjerseth also went onto note, in the same interview, that all the band members were currently getting along just fine and immediately put out the flame of rumors that said that they had separate dressing rooms as a result of tension. He said that this was more because they all have families with them and they need the space as opposed to a rift amongst the group. Just like the old days, they all have a meeting space before a show where they can get in the mood and focus on the night ahead.
Many were concerned about the classic lineup, including Slash, Axl Rose, and Duff McKagan, and whether they would last a whole tour after previous falling outs. However, Guns N’ Roses have been showing crowds exactly what they are all about for the first time in 20 years recently and Skjerseth believes that it wasn’t just money that brought them all back together. Although he noted that everyone wants money, it was a love for the band that reignited the flame.
With regards to this billboard in Australia, we haven’t had any news just yet but their production manager has hinted in the past that they could be traveling all around the world and that the tour had no end date to speak of. He noted how everyone was working towards a common goal which was to keep the machine going.
So there we have it, we are unsure of where the tour will go exactly but it looks as though Guns N’ Roses will be touring Down Under at the beginning of next year. This billboard will have brightened many Aussie GNR fan’s day and we look forward to hearing an official announcement maybe even later this week.
